COVID-19 Diving Centre Update
The dive centre will be open again from 1st July! The Canary Islands have had some of the lowest infection rates in Spain, and new infections are now minimal. This makes us one of the safest holiday diving destinations in these changed times.
We have implementing lots of small procedure changes to make it safe for everyone, and are looking forward to diving with you all again soon. Use our contact form to reserve your place as one of our changes is a reduced number of divers each day.
See our short Question & Answer video about diving during the CoronaVirus.
We often get asked if you can snorkel or dive in the sea right next to Maspalomas or the adjoining resorts of Playa del Inglés, Sonnenland, San Agustín or Bahia Feliz in Gran Canaria. Sorry, but the answer is: not really - there is not much to see!.
Maspalomas and Playa del Inglés are best known for their beaches and the amazing sand-dunes behind the beach... which in diving terms means .. lots of sand and not much marine life and not much depth. Compared to the main dive sites on Gran Canaria, the beaches are a bit like the famous dunes of Maspalomas .. a bit of a desert.
Divers also search for a PADI dive centre in Maspalomas, but because the adjacent diving is poor, there is currently no PADI 5* Approved Dive Centre in Playa del Ingles, Mapaslomas, Meloneras, San Agustín or the other resorts of the 'Sur'. It may look on the map as though you are some distance from the best diving on the island, but the motorway is close by and so it is quick (20 minutes) and easy to get to Arinaga to enjoy some of the best scuba diving in the Canaries.
But do not worry. Maspalomas has always had a reputation as a sun lovers destination, and has all the attractions and facilities to make it a great family holiday destination. It is also only twenty minutes from the marine reserve at El Cabrón near Arinaga on the East Coast, regarded by all the locals as the best place to dive in Gran Canaria.
There are twelve different dive routes, it has one of the best mixes of marine life on the island, and you can dive with colourful fish like damselfish, wrasse, parrotfish and glasseyes, or bigger species such as angelshark, rays, barracuda, trumpetfish and bonito.
- See more, with over 12 dive routes and 400 marine species - this is the hot-spot for marine life in Gran Canaria
- 'Casa Limon' is the most spacious and relaxed dive centre in Gran Canaria
- Our team are mature, knowledgeable and highly rated on TripAdviser!
- Winners of the PADI 'Outstanding Achievement Award' for 2018.
You can enjoy some of the the best diving in Gran Canaria, by using our free mini-bus service from Maspalomas, and be back with the family in Playa del Inglés, Maspalomas or Meloneras in time for afternoon tea.
Nearby, Playa del Inglés also has a very vibrant night-life, and plenty of reasonably priced acommodation, so you can party one night and then dive on other days, chilling out between in the dunes or shopping in the Yumbo centre.
A very relaxing yet rewarding day of diving with my two sons. We were picked up from our stay on the agreed time (no waiting), with a swift transfer to the diving center. Nice garden like diving center facilties, with an instructor speaking dutch (our native language) as a bonus. The Cabron area is excellent for diving; lots of sea-life, two sightings of angel shark, and a trumpet fish. Thanks again for the memorable day!

So what are the best dives for you ?
Because there are many different dive routes within the El Cabrón Marine Reserve, we have plenty of dive options for different levels of diving experience. The dive sites of Playa del Cabrón, Risco Verde and Cal Steps are perfect for beginners, courses and refreshers; The Table Top and Hole in the wall, and Punta de la Monja will suit most recreational divers, and for more advanced divers there is Punta de la Sal and more advanced exploration of some of the caves of El Cabrón. To find out more select your type of dive below.
In summary, if you are coming here with a family and only diving a couple of days, then Maspalomas is a great base from which to explore Gran Canaria. There are plenty of things to do and see including the water park, the beach area, horse riding, jeep safaris, sky-diving and helicopter trips (to name just a few). From here it is a short journey to go diving in the El Cabrón marine reserve where you can take part in some top-rated diving experiences.
